The legend of the last century, the folk lens is Jupiter 37A 3.5/135. It is called a small telephoto or a large portrait lens, which is true. One of the best Soviet portrait lenses in the range of 85-135mm.
The Jupiter-37A 135mm f/3.5 lens was recalculated from the Carl Zeiss Sonnar 135mm f/3.5. In this case, the lens was undoubtedly successful and turned out to be no worse than the famous forerunner.
The lens has 12 aperture blades. Therefore, it can act as an excellent portrait lens with even background blur circles (it has good bokeh).
Non-fixed diaphragm ring stroke. Let me explain - the ring does not have fixed diaphragm values of the type 4.5, 5.6, 8, but has a continuous ring of travel. This is very useful when shooting video, where you can close and open the aperture smoothly (rather than jerkily at fixed values).
Large aperture stroke is F3.5-F22. Quite a maneuverable lens. Jupiter-37A has a diaphragm preset function. To use this function, you need to squeeze the aperture ring into the side of the camera and release it at the desired aperture value. After that, the aperture will close only up to the specified value. This is quite convenient when working with manual optics - focus on a fully open aperture, quickly close to the desired value and shoot.
The letter 'A' in the name of the lens indicates that such a lens can be equipped with an adapter - a replaceable shank (on the Nikon, Pentax mount).
