The camera is converted to Ultra16 (1.85:1 ratio) film format(new film gate).

The "Ultra-16" format is a production format and differs from "Super-16" in the symmetrical arrangement of the frame to the film. In this case, the corners of the exposed area partially enter the perforation. The usable area of ​​the frame with an aspect ratio of 1.85:1 occupies the entire height between the perforations and is 11.8×6.25mm. It can be used to optically print redeemed film copies as well as to obtain high definition video in 16:9 format.

The Krasnogorsk-3 (Красногорск-3) is a 16-mm windup camera made in the former Soviet Union. 

The K-3 has been adopted by many film schools, including the University of Southern California's School of Cinema and Television. It has a semi-automatic diaphragm setting.

Its low price, rugged construction and sophisticated optics have become very popular with both beginning filmmakers and professionals. Among the K-3's credits are music videos for the Spin Doctors and Suicidal Tendencies.
