The lens is fully functional. Optics are in very good condition. With proper adapters can be used at modern SLR/DSLR and mirrorless cameras.

The legendary Russian Helios-40 'Bokeh Miracle'.

If there is a lens that can be called the ultimate Soviet legend, it would be the HELIOS-40.

It's swirly bokeh inspired by the vintage glass, and really, what the hell can it be? Creates beautiful biotar bokeh style - out of focus highlights are rendered as beautiful discs, making the background swirl slightly.

Russian (USSR) Helios-40 lenses are considered one of the best portrait lenses.

Sometimes the combination of old and new can lead to startling results. There are a few fantastic analogue lenses with adapters that blend well with modern digital cameras. One of them is the Russian portrait lens Helios 40.  

The best feature of this lens is the excellent oil-painted Bokeh at Apertures F1.5-2.

The background blur has, in particular, in the case of F1.5 is an eye-catching "swirly bokeh" effect.
