Konvas-2M 1KCP-2M 35mm Camera Crystal Sync - 18/35/50/150mm OCT19 Arri PL mount

The motion picture camera is designed for handheld or light tripod shooting of standard and widescreen films in the studio and on location on black-and-white or color 35mm film. The model uses a single-blade mirror shutter with a constant opening angle. The film movement is straight and in a single plane.

The tape transport mechanism is partially housed in a cassette, which allows for quick reloading of the device. Frame rates - 8, 16, 24, 32 frames per second. Film format - 35 mm. Capacity of single and double cassettes - 60 and 120 m.

Compared to the original Konvas (commonly referred to as the Konvas-1) and later Konvas models to the Konvas 1M, the Konvas 2M is a smaller, more modern 35mm motion picture camera. The Konvas 2M manufacturers made the decision to replace the front end with a more modern, sleeker, single-lens system in favor of the previous turret configuration. The Konvas 2M camera was able to accept a different, more robust mount thanks to its single lens construction. Compared to the previous OCT18 mount design, this mount design is far more durable and resembles the Arri PL mount. 

The choice to alter the design may have been influenced by the fact that lenses that work better with other cameras, such as the Kinor 35H and 35C and the Temp SKL, use the same mount.

Additionally, at the time the Convas 2M was released, the lenses (and glass in them) were evolving quickly. As the speed of the zooms became more reasonable, the heavier zoom lenses started replacing the lighter prime lenses. In addition to providing greater space for cinematographers to choose finer glass, a more robust mount was required to help support the additional weight. These new lenses were made possible by the Konvas 2M.

The majority of the Konvas 2M's accessories, such as the motors, viewfinders, and magazines, are completely compatible with the Konvas 1M. The mirror and gate are among the many internal components of the Konvas 2M that are also compatible.
